Imagine you find the car of your dreams; it’s fully loaded, affordable, and even the color you want.  You get in, put one hand on the wheel while the other puts the key in the ignition and SURPRISE!  It doesn’t start.  You decide to check under the hood and realize your car is missing the engine.  Without the research from these, and many other developmental theorists, our knowledge of people would be incomplete, just as your car is incomplete.  Each of these men have developed theories on developmental stages throughout the lifespan.  What do you know about developmental stages?  How would you assess children at different developmental stages?
