Your friend has invited you to come over at 8 p.m. to eat pizza and watch movies on Saturday night. You realize that your curfew is 11 and you know that everyone will probably stay until 12. When you ask your parents they automatically say no, so you get really upset and start yelling until your parents say you’re grounded.
Your best friend has started hanging out with a new group of friends. The little time that you get to spend with him/her all he/she talks about is how fun and cool her new friends are. This really hurts your feelings but you don’t know what to do.
These are both situations that adolescents start to encounter. You begin to have situations with your parents, siblings, and friends, that you don’t how to deal with so they usually end in a fight or hurt feelings. The root of most problems is lack of communication therefore learning effective communication skills can solve problems or conflict in a healthy way.
