Personal
Health and Wellness can be achieved through a holistic approach. Holistic Wellness includes the physical, emotional, mental,
and spiritual affects on an individual. To
achieve holistic wellness, one must learn how to balance all aspects of life
that make up the whole person.
In
this project, you will work together in groups and create a holistic wellness
plan for an individual that needs your help!

Rebecca
is a 35-year woman. She is 5’8 inches
tall and weighs 165 lbs. She has been working for the past seven years as a
lawyer and leads a very busy life. She rarely exercises and eats a lot of quick
fast food meals and frozen dinners. Rebecca is single and has not dated in
several years. She used to have lots of friends and spent time with them on the
weekends but she has lost touch with them over the years. Rebecca also enjoys
spending time on the weekends hiking and camping in the mountains but since her
career has become more complex, she spends little time doing leisurely
activities. Rebecca recently found out that she has high blood pressure and
runs a risk of developing heart disease.
This alarming news has convinced her that she needs to make a change in
her life. Rebecca would like to improve
on the following aspects and create balance in her life:
·
Eating Healthy and Lowering blood pressure
·
Reducing the amount of stress in her life
·
Meeting new friends
·
Finding resources for emotional support
·
Developing an exercise program that she enjoys.
·
Making changes in her career to make more time for
a social life.
Rebecca
needs your help. In groups of five you will create a personal wellness plan for
her. Each person in your group will take
on the role of a professional and help Rebecca take a more holistic approach to
life and wellness.
The
class will work on Rebecca’s holistic wellness plan in groups. You will have the opportunity to sign up for
one of the following positions within your group:
1. Nutritionist:
Design a diet for Rebecca that helps fight heart disease and determine if she
is facing any other health risks.

National
